Postpartum Doula Team Leader
Hi, I'm Erin. I’m a postpartum doula and childbirth educator in the Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor area. I live in Livonia with my husband and our two young children. I began my doula career in January 2010 when I attended my first birth. As I worked as a birth doula over the next seven years, I began supporting families more and more as a postpartum doula as well. I realized that even the most educated and prepared families were still lacking in support after their babies were born. In September 2016, I began focusing full time on serving families as a postpartum doula. Every family I work with is special and unique, and I’m honored and blessed to be able to help them enjoy such an amazing time in their lives!
Parents have more choices - and pressure! - today than ever before. As exciting as it is to have so many options, it can be overwhelming too. I believe in education and choice. My role as your doula is to help you get the evidence-based information you need to make the best decision for you, and then to support you 100% in that decision. I think knowledge breeds confidence, and confidence in your parenting decisions leads to a strong and peaceful postpartum adjustment.
As SEM Community Doulas' team administrator, I get to have contact with most of the families SEMCD works with, even if I don't always get to meet them in person, and I'm always happy to answer questions about how our team works and help families get the most of all of our services. In 2017, I will begin offering HypnoBirthing classes to expecting families.
I spend most of my free time with my family. We enjoy exploring and attending events in Detroit and Ann Arbor and all the neighborhoods in between. I love cooking and reading, and I enjoy pretending that I know how to garden.
