About Jahmanna Selassie...My name is Jahmanna Selassie. I am a wife and mother. My love for birth work began at the age of 15 when I attended an Introduction to Midwifery Class at community high school. It was then and there I found an important piece of my life's work. I am now currently studying to be a Certified Professional Midwife and am apprenticing with Stacia Proefrock from Trillium Birth Services. I also have a massage and bodywork practice that focuses on women's health, pregnancy, and infant massage.
When I am not attending births and supporting families, I am busy enjoying the sweet chaos of my nine-person home. I also enjoy yoga, Salsa dancing, gardening, and singing reggae music. My own births were based on the philosophy that my body is created to give birth. I chose to surround myself with people who believed the same. My confidence was reflected back at me throughout my birthing process at the times when I needed it most. I felt deeply supported and cared for and, no matter what my birth journeys were to bring, I knew that I was not alone. My goal as a doula is to help create, along with you and the other members of your birth team, an experience that you walk away from feeling empowered and supported. |
